Ingredients:
- 2 cups chana dal - soaked in water overnight.
- 1 onion - thinly sliced
- 1 tomato - chopped
- 1 medium lauki (Dudhi or bottle gourd) - cut in small cube sides
- 1 tblsp red chilie powder, dhaniya powder, and adrak-lassan (ginger-garlic)
- Salt and lime juice to taste
- Tumeric powder - a pinch
- Oil - 3 tblsp
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker;
- Add in onions and saute till golden brown;
- Add in tomatoes and fry till oil separates out;
- Add in laal masala (#5), salt, lime juice and tumeric powder;
- Fry till oil separates out;
- Add in chana dal and lauki, mix well;
- Close the pressure cooker and let it cook till dal is fully cooked.
- I usually cook it for about 10-12 minutes in a pressure cooker.
- Serve it with hot rotis.
