Chana dal - Dudhi; Chana dal - lauki

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups chana dal - soaked in water overnight.
  2. 1 onion - thinly sliced
  3. 1 tomato - chopped
  4. 1 medium lauki (Dudhi or bottle gourd) - cut in small cube sides
  5. 1 tblsp red chilie powder, dhaniya powder, and adrak-lassan (ginger-garlic)
  6. Salt and lime juice to taste
  7. Tumeric powder - a pinch
  8. Oil - 3 tblsp
Process:

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker;
  2. Add in onions and saute till golden brown;
  3. Add in tomatoes and fry till oil separates out;
  4. Add in laal masala (#5), salt, lime juice and tumeric powder;
  5. Fry till oil separates out;
  6. Add in chana dal and lauki, mix well;
  7. Close the pressure cooker and let it cook till dal is fully cooked.
  8. I usually cook it for about 10-12 minutes in a pressure cooker.
  9. Serve it with hot rotis.
